Lawyer Tough on Drunk Drivers Arrested for DUI in Florida

A personal injury attorney who took a tough stance on drunk driving in television ads was arrested on a DUI charge in north Florida Sunday.

David J. Maloney, 49, was booked into the Escambia County Jail on the DUI charge just after 3:30 a.m., jail records showed. He was later released on $500 bond.

Maloney didn't return a call from NBC 6 to his law office on Monday.

The website for his firm, Maloney Frost LLP, says they represent accident victims and "aggressively pursue cases against irresponsible drunk drivers."

Maloney also expresses his dislike of drunk drivers in television ads posted on YouTube.

"Believe it or not, I still sometimes get calls from people who think that they can convince me or pay me enough to represent them in a drunk driving context," he says in one ad. "I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you drink and you drive and you hurt someone, don't call me. I'm not going to represent you, I'm not going to help you. If anything, I'm going to be the lawyer going after you."
