Florida Man Accused of Stealing Jewelry From Dead Woman

A man hired by a funeral home to transport a woman's body is accused of stealing jewelry from her Dunedin home.

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the 88-year-old woman's home Thursday afternoon after she apparently died of natural causes.

A short time later, 44-year-old Terrance Stubblefield of St. Petersburg arrived to take her body to a funeral home. As he was working to remove the body, deputies saw a necklace hanging from his pocket.

Stubblefield got into his vehicle, but deputies questioned him about the necklace. He said it belonged to his girlfriend.

Deputies say the woman's daughter identified the necklace as her mother's.

Stubblefield admitted to taking the necklace. He remains in jail on grand theft charges. It wasn't known whether he's hired an attorney.
