Security Guard Used Flashing Red-And-Blue Lights to Skip Gas Line During Hurricane Preparations

A Palm Beach County man is accused of using red-and-blue flashing lights to skip a gas line in West Palm Beach during preparations for Hurricane Irma.

According to WPTV, 47-year-old Jon Quinton flashed the lights on the dashboard of his Dodge Durango at a Speedway gas station on Sept. 6.

Quinton attempted to get through the heavy pre-hurricane traffic with the lights, according to an arrest report.

Quinton, who lives near Greenacres, told the deputies he was a security officer and not law enforcement.

He claimed he didn’t realize the lights were red and blue, according to the report.

Records show Quinton is a recreation supervisor for the city of Fort Lauderdale.

Quinton was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of blue lights. He was released on his own recognizance from the Palm Beach County Jail.
