Florida Panthers Unveil New Logo, Uniforms For 2016-17 Season

Coming off a season where they won just the second divsion title in franchise history, the Florida Panthers are showing off their new look for the upcoming year.

Current and former players joined fans at a special event Thursday night at the BB&T Center where the team showed off their new logo and uniforms that will debut this season.

Owner Vincent Viola was also in attendance and praised the change as the team looks to build off just the fourth playoff apperance in franchise history.

"The idea when we came into Florida and took responsibility for the stewardship of the franchise, was to start anew and create traditions that were unique to this new start," Viola said at the event, according to Panthers.com.

The new logo features a more mature panther inside of a shield with the word Florida above it. That logo will be featured on the front of the team's away uniforms, while the home uniforms will feature the same shield with the word Panthers instead.

The uniforms will also feature a patch on the side with a panther above the Florida state flag, with the word Panthers on the away uniforms and Florida on the home ones above that patch.

Merchandise with the new logo is on sale at the team's shop in Coral Springs, where fans can also pre-order the new jerseys before they are sold to the general public.
