Florida Minimum Wage To Increase On Jan. 1, 2019

It's not $15 per hour, but the state of Florida will still see a significant minimum wage increase come New Year’s Day.

According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the minimum wage will rise to $8.46 per hour on Jan. 1, 2019. That’s a 21 cent increase from the previous minimum wage of $8.25. It's the biggest minimum wage increase since 2012, officials say.

The minimum wage for tipped employees is also set to increase from $5.23 to $5.44 per hour, according to the department.

An increase comes every year on January 1 under Florida law to adjust the state’s minimum wage rate based on the federal consumer.
