A Florida Uber driver is behind bars after allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl using the ride-sharing service, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said a 27-year-old driver, David Pena-Melo, picked the girl up from a location in Kissimmee on May 8 and made her sit in the front seat of the car. Then, he began to make sexual advances toward the minor.
Police said Pena-Melo drove past the girl’s requested destination and stopped at a nearby wooded area, where he forced her to perform a sex act. After allegedly sexually battering her, the driver then dropped the girl off at her destination.
Pena-Melo was arrested on charges of sexual battery on a person older than 12 years of age but younger than 18 years of age on May 11. He has been booked into the Osceola County Jail.
