As a limited supply of the coronavirus vaccine has become available across Florida, residents are understandably anxious to know when they will be able to stand in line for a dose.

A weekend event in the city of Miami got hundreds of people the needed vaccine, but it also came with frustration that seems to be taking place at multiple stops across the area.

Here's what we know today about the coronavirus outbreak in Florida, and the effort to stop it.

State to Receive 300,000 Vaccines This Week

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday that the state is set to receive another 325,000 doses this week from the federal government, a slight increase from the last shipment.

A part of the new doses, he said, will go to a new vaccination site in a part of Miami-Dade County.

“We are going to try and do 200 seniors a day, seven days a week in an area that may not have as many people vaccinated and that’ll be very important," he said.


Florida Adds 5,737 New COVID-19 Cases, Reports Over 120 More Virus Deaths Monday

Florida reported more than 5,700 new COVID-19 cases Monday, as the state's virus-related death toll increased by over 120.

The 5,737 new confirmed COVID-19 cases brought Florida's total to 1,783,720 since the outbreak began.

Another 120 virus-related deaths among Florida residents were reported Monday, bringing the total to 27,816.


Homebound Bay of Pigs Veterans in Miami To Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

Bay of Pigs veterans in Miami who are homebound will be getting COVID-19 vaccines brought to them.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference at the Bay of Pigs Museum and Library Monday morning to announce the expansion of the state's homebound vaccine program to the veterans.

Thousands of Floridians Vaccinated, 1 Million COVID-19 Vaccines Expected at Pharmacies This Week

Pharmacies in Miami-Dade and Broward counties are expecting a substantial shipment of the coveted COVID-19 vaccine this week, according to Florida lawmakers.

Walmart and Sam's Club pharmacies in the state are expected to ship 1 million doses across Florida, with vaccinations set to start Thursday.

Nationwide, 6,500 pharmacies will be receiving the shipment.

The shipments are being received as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. The program aims to speed up vaccine distribution and eventually expand to 40,000 pharmacies.

An online tool used to schedule appointments with the pharmacies is expected to launch within the coming days.

So far, 1,326,136 people in Florida have had their first dose of the vaccine. 667,830 people have been fully vaccinated.


Nearly 100 Holocaust Survivors in Palm Beach Get First Vaccine Dose

Nearly 100 Holocaust survivors in Palm Beach County received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines on Sunday.

The doses were administered by Region 7 Ambulance Strike Teams, including Town of Palm Beach Fire Rescue, Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue, Delray Beach Fire Rescue, Boynton Beach Fire Rescue, West Palm Beach Fire Rescue, Riviera Beach Fire Rescue, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Davie Fire Rescue from Broward.


More Than 667,000 Have Received 2 Doses of Vaccine in Florida

More than 667,000 people in Florida have completed their COVID-19 vaccination series, the state said Sunday.

The Latest COVID-19 vaccine summary from the state showed 667,830 people have received both recommended doses of the vaccine.


Hundreds of Seniors Get Vaccinated in Miami, But Frustrations Continue

Frustrations continued Saturday for seniors waiting to get the COVID-19 vaccine. When Betsy Escalona got word that another 500 vaccines were ready, there was a sigh of relief. 

She made an appointment and showed up at San Juan Bosco Catholic Church in Miami Saturday. However, she says getting to this point has not been easy. 

Many people were turned away Saturday because they did not have an appointment. An organizer told NBC 6 there was misinformation about walk-ins being accepted.


Florida Adds 7,400 New COVID-19 Cases, Reports 142 More Virus Deaths Saturday

Florida reported more than 7,400 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, as the state's virus-related death toll increased by 142.

The 7,486 new confirmed COVID-19 cases brought Florida's total to 1,771,359 since the outbreak began.

The positivity rate for new cases in the state was 6.25% Saturday, an increase from Friday's 5.8%.


Mission to Vaccinate Holocaust Survivors Continues in Miami-Dade County

Nearly 1,000 Holocaust survivors received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine in South Florida over the past few days.

First responders began administering the vaccine in the tri-county area on Thursday and were continuing in Broward County and Miami-Dade on Friday.

Florida's Department of Emergency Management and Department of Health made the special mission possible by identifying hundreds of survivors who live locally.
