A Florida woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband.
The Lakeland Ledger reports that a Polk County judge sentenced 48-year-old Tanya Senay Demirhan on Monday. She pleaded guilty in September to solicitation to commit murder and unlawful use of a communication device.
Demirhan had faced up to 35 years in prison. She testified that her husband had subjected her to years of abuse, including sex with strangers at swinger parties. Demirhan's husband also asked the judge for leniency, saying he felt guilty and responsible.
Demirhan was arrested last December after trying to arrange the killing of her husband with a man who turned out to be an undercover detective.
