Florida's Space Coast Wildfire Doubles in Size to 855 Acres

A brush fire along Florida's Space Coast doubled in size overnight to more than 800 acres.

The Florida Forest Service said on its official Twitter account Wednesday that the wildfire dubbed the "Old 50 Brush Fire" has consumed 855 acres.

The fire was only 50 percent contained, but firefighters were hoping to have it 90 percent contained by the end of the day.

The fire was located near the intersection of Interstate 95 and State Road 50.

State Road 50 was also closed for a short time Tuesday night because of smoke.
