Forecasters Watching Tropical System in Atlantic

Forecasters are keeping an eye on an area of low pressure over the Atlantic that has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next five days.

As of Monday, the area was several hundred miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands and was continuing to show signs of organization, officials with the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

It was moving westward or west-northwestward at 15 mph, NHC officials said.

The system has a 50 percent chance of formation over the next couple days and a 70 percent chance of formation over the next five days.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's updated outlook shows a likelihood for a below-normal 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which ends on November 30.
