Fort Lauderdale Air Show Taking Over Beach Skies; Major Delays Expected

This year's Fort Lauderdale Air Show is taking off and taking over Fort Lauderdale Beach all weekend, as thousands of people are expected to watch fighter jets fill the skies.

The fan favorite Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds will headline the event that will feature full capabilities demonstrations by the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper and a U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet.

“We’re thrilled to have the show returning in 2017” said Bryan Lilley, Chairman of the Fort Lauderdale Air Show. “We’ve got a great lineup coming together for this year and look forward to bringing the sound of freedom back to the skies over Fort Lauderdale Beach.”

The air show is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

If you're heading that direction, road closures are already in effect. Drivers can expect northbound and southbound A1A to be closed for traffic from the north side of Sunrise Boulevard intersection to Northeast 14th Court of State Road A1A all weekend from from 6:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
