Fort Lauderdale Duplex Fire Kills 1

Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives are investigating a fire in a Fort Lauderdale duplex that killed one man Saturday morning.

The blaze broke out in the duplex at 4101 SW 18th Court. Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue responded to the fire around 8 a.m.

Firefighters found the man unconscious in the bedroom and attempted to resuscitate him. The man was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.

BSO Fire Rescue said they were able to contain the fire to the bedroom.

BSO's Homicide unit is investigating what they are calling a suspicious death, and have not yet identified the victim.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Broward Sheriff Fire Marshal's Bureau and the Division of State Fire Marshal.
