Fourth Victim of Deerfield Beach Lake Crash Has Died: FHP

Woman who had been hospitalized after SUV went into lake has died at hospital

The fourth person who was riding in an SUV when it plunged into a Deerfield Beach lake last week has died, authorities said Monday.

Sandalie Jean-Baptiste, 20, was pronounced dead at Broward Health North Medical Center Sunday night, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said.

Jean-Baptiste was one of four people inside the Lexus SUV when it went into the lake off I-95 between Hillsboro Boulevard and Southwest 10th Street after it was involved in a three-vehicle crash last Wednesday night.

Body of 4th Victim Pulled From Deerfield Beach Lake

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Deerfield Beach crews and BSO Marine Unit divers pulled Jean-Baptiste, 37-year-old Nadege Theodore and 16-year-old Guivens Daverman from the water and rushed them to Broward Health North in critical condition.
Theodore, who was driving, and Daverman, her nephew, both died at the hospital. Theodore's 15-year-old daughter was found and pulled from the lake by divers the next day.

There were no other injuries. The two other cars involved, a Nissan Altima and a Hyundai Sonata, had minor damage. Authorities said the SUV landed about 50 feet from shore in 15-20 feet of water.

The FHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
