Friends of Parkland Shooting Victim Joaquin Oliver Holding Fundraiser to Help Family Get to DC March

The fundraiser will take place Thursday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Monster Mini Golf

Friends of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting victim Joaquin Oliver are holding a fundraiser to help get his family to Washington, DC, to attend this month's "March for Our Lives."

The fundraiser will take place Thursday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Monster Mini Golf at 9533 Westview Drive in Coral Springs.

The cost to golf is $10 per person and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Oliver's family. If you cannot attend the event and still wish to help, friends have set up a GoFundMe account.

"We're trying to raise money so the family and friends can go to Washington and march on his behalf and make change happen," friend Jada Dacosti said. "I remember him as a fun, energetic person. He lights up a dark room instantly. He smiles and just knows how to make you happy."

Oliver, one of 17 people killed in the Feb. 14 shooting, was buried in his Dwyane Wade Miami Heat jersey. Wade later played in shoes bearing Oliver's name and dedicated the rest of the Heat season to him.
