Gainesville Police Seeks to Reunite Marijuana Plants With Owner

If you're missing 10 potted marijuana plants, the Gainesville Police Department wants to assist – in one way or another.

"Did you lose your potted plants near 45th Ave? We’ve got ‘em! Claim in person at GPD headquarters," the police department in Alachua County wrote in a tongue-in-cheek social media post.

Although Florida in the 2016 general election passed Amendment 2 with a 71.3 percent vote, which would expand medical marijuana access to people with specific debilitating diseases or conditions determined by a licensed physician, recreational marijuana remains illegal.

This case of lost-and-found could land the cannabis owner in lockup. It's against the law to grow the "dro."
