Gas Prices Highest for July 4th Holiday Since 2014 in South Florida

As America prepares to celebrate its 242nd birthday on Wednesday, drivers in South Florida can expect to pay their highest prices at the gas pump over the Independence Day holiday in four years.

Prices did drop in the area nearly one cent from last week, down to $2.77 a gallon as of Sunday – five cents higher than the statewide average but seven cents lower than the national average.

The state average of $2.72 is the highest since 2014, when motorists paid an average of $3.60 a gallon over the July 4th holiday.

In Broward County, the lowest prices for fuel are at the Marathon station located at Sheridan Street and State Road 7 for $2.55 a gallon and at the Chevron station located at Hollywood Boulevard and 56th Avenue for $2.59

In Miami-Dade, drivers can pay $2.63 a gallon at the Westar station located at Southwest 22nd Street and 22nd Avenue and $2.65 at the 7-Eleven located at Northwest 79th Street and 7th Avenue.
