Gay8 Festival Returns to Little Havana President's Day Weekend

The third-annual Gay8 festival is coming back this year and will take over Calle Ocho in February.

The event will take place President’s Day weekend on Sunday, February 18. However, due to a scheduling conflict with the annual Three Kings Day parade, the 2018 Gay8 Festival on Calle Ocho in Little Havana in January had to be rescheduled.

“The City has only heard positive reviews of the event. We have respect for its organizers, and we are excited when we think of the growth prospects for the Little Havana neighborhood,” said Acting City Manager Fernando Casamayor.

The event features live music, food, art events and historic walking tours.

“Gay8 Festival has been a diverse fun festival that catapulted onto Calle Ocho with 17,000 people year one and more than doubled to 35,000 people year two,” said Joe Cardona, the festival’s organizer. “It did so because thousands of people believe working together across all communities is a good thing.”
