Gay8 Festival to Debut on Little Havana's Historic Calle Ocho

Businesses and Community Usher in New Chapter Celebrating Local Diversity

Miami’s top local bands, businesses, community leaders, and the community at large will come together on January 17, 2016 for the first annual Gay8 Festival. Gay8 (GayOcho!) is the first Latino LGBT art, music and food street festival in Miami’s historic Little Havana, and will feature some of Miami’s most celebrated musical talent – bands like Palo, Suenalo, Picadillo, and the Spam Allstars.

“For the first time the LGBTA* community is honored to host a community festival meant to open doors and connect people who traditionally don’t connect” said organizer Damian Pardo. “We hope Gay8 will come to represent a fun-filled day for all Miamians where we celebrate diversity and working together”.

Gay8 will also feature a number of events surrounding the street festival – including dance parties, food tastings, a mini-film festival, cigar tastings and pop-up art performances. Miami’s richest flavors will fill the air with captivating aromas, as noted local restaurants will host booths that will feature some of the best local cuisine.

Art will be aplenty at Gay8 as some of the best local talent South Florida has to offer will punctuate the festival at booths displaying unique, authentic works of art.
Miami Dade College’s Tower Theater and the Miami International Film Festival will showcase LGBT themed films throughout the day.

There will be bursts of art and culture with spontaneous performances throughout the festival in varying locations. A cigar lounge, free historic walking tours of the area and much more are among the opportunities available to enjoy at the Gay8 Festival.
