“Great Food Truck Race” Finalists Dish It Out In Miami

Whichever team serves the most meals in Miami this weekend wins $100,000 from The Food Network

Miami's mobile culinary scene is even more delicious this weekend: the two finalists in The Food Network's second season of "The Great Food Truck Race" are in town filming the show's finale, and it's up to our stomachs who wins.

Irvine, California's The Lime Truck and Cleveland, Ohio's Hodge Podge rolled into town earlier this week; whichever team serves the most meals to Miami through Sunday will be declared the $100,000 winner by host and chef Tyler Florence.

The catch? The trucks can't communicate their locations to the public by Twitter or Facebook, but fortunately, the public can: for the latest location updates, check the hashtag #greatfoodtruckrace on Twitter before heading out for a bite.

And what might that be? Following a Saturday lunch that included both mussels and Philly cheesesteak fries, The Lime Truck's dinner included ceviche with shrimp, real shaved wasabi flown in from Japan, and a pork loin, according to Short Order.

On the menu at Hodge Podge was Himachi wontons, fish tacos, ribeye tacos, sweet potato tater tots, crab dip, and passion fruit lemonade.

For both teams -- and trucks -- it's been a long road. Competition began with eight trucks rolling cross-country from Santa Monica, California, battling a host of challenges in cities along the way: weather, locations, food sourcing, and the tastes of various locals.

All six other teams have been eliminated, making Miami Hodge Podge and The Lime Trucks' last stand.

Already, cries of favoritism have sprung up from the watching world thanks to the four local trucks at Tobacco Road offering one free item to anyone spending $20 at Hodge Podge.

"Getting frustrated that almost no Miami food trucks are helping The Lime Truck," wrote Michelle Reynoso from California. "It's so one-sided! Foodies, help the underdog Lime, please!"

No matter what happens, it will be a while before the results are known: the first episode of this season 2 of "Great Food Truck Race" will hit The Food Network on August 14.
