Gucci Employee Arrested for Allegedly Stealing $4K From Store

An employee at the Gucci store in Bal Harbor was arrested Monday for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in cash from the store.

Bernadine Elthea Francis, 33, was was an employee at the Gucci Boutique located at 9700 Collins Avenue in the Bal Harbour Shops Mall. Francis allegedly processed 13 fraudulent refunds using false receipts, police say.

According to Bal Harbour Police, the total amount of cash stolen by Francis using false refund receipts from the store, totaled $4,591.01.

Francis is charged with six counts of grand theft, 13 counts of receipts fraudulently obtained, and seven counts of petit theft. Her bond has been set at $6,500.

The police report does not indicate if Francis has hired an attorney.
