Gun Possibly Involved in Fight at Flanagan High School

Questions about school security are raised after NBC 6 obtained a video of a fight at a Pembroke Pines high school. We're told a former student was able to get a gun onto campus.

Broward County Public Schools released a statement saying what happened at Charles W. Flanagan High School on Thursday is under investigation.

Video shows someone raising their arm high in the air with what appears to be, and witnesses said, was a gun. The person then pistol-whipped another student and ran off.

"I just heard there was an altercation between two students, some student had a pistol apparently on campus, another had a knife. I just think it's insane," said one student.

Flanagan High School hosted a football game for two other schools in the district, and word about what happened Thursday has gotten around.

"Not a great feeling knowing that somebody can just bring a gun to school. I don't feel really safe, you know," another student added.

The district hasn't said much about the incident except: "The safety of our students is our greatest concern."

Both Pembroke Pines Police and school police are investigating.
