A Hallandale Beach police officer accused of pawning department-issued equipment including a rifle and pistol is facing criminal charges, authorities said.

Officer Yan Kleyman turned himself in to the Broward County jail Friday to face a charge of dealing in stolen property, Hallandale Beach Police Chief Sonia Quinones announced.

Kleyman, who has been with the department since 2011, was immediately fired, Quinones said. Attorney information wasn't available.

Quinones said the department was performing a routine internal equipment audit when they made the discovery. Quinones didn't describe what items were allegedly pawned.

According to an arrest report, the items that were pawned included a semi-automatic rifle, a semi-automatic pistol, and a red dot laser.

The arrest report said Kleyman conducted 15 transaction with a pawnbroker between March 2017 and August 2018.

"Mr. Kleyman's alleged actions are not reflective of the dedicated men and women of this agency," Quinones said in a statement.

Jail records showed Kleyman was being held on $3,500 bond Friday afternoon.
