Heat Finish Strong in Victory Over Nuggets

The Heat began a road trip with a 106-98 win over the Nuggets in Denver on Wednesday

The Miami Heat opened their latest road trip with a 106-98 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.

With this win, Miami is now 6-12 on the season and continues to play better on the road than it does at home. The Heat are 4-5 in road games, and a paltry 2-7 in games in Miami.

This game looked like it could end in the loss column for Miami until a strong fourth quarter. In the final quarter of play, the Heat outscored the Nuggets 31-18 to pick up a much-needed win.

Tyler Johnson returned to the team after missing Monday's contest and resumed his role off the bench. Miami was still without Dion Waiters and Justise Winslow and the lack of depth showed. The Heat had Josh McRoberts in the starting lineup for the first time this season and he was mostly a non-factor.

Wayne Ellington was a big reason for the win as he had a memorable fourth quarter himself. The guard nailed four of his five three-pointers in the final quarter alone. Ellington ended up with 22 points overall in the game while coming off Miami's bench.

Leading the charge for the Heat in the win was a familiar name in Hassan Whiteside. The center has been far and away Miami's most consistent player this season and had another big game. Whiteside ended up with 25 points to go along with 16 rebounds and he also had four blocks.

Goran Dragic was solid himself with 16 points and seven assists in his 34 minutes of action.

The next stop on the trip for Miami will come on Thursday against the Utah Jazz at 9:00 p.m.
