A Hialeah couple is facing child neglect charges after their young son was taken to the hospital with black and blue bruises.
Wilfredo Perez-Cuenca, 32, and Mayelin Garcia, 31, were arrested Thursday, according to an arrest report.
Garcia is charged with child neglect with no great bodily harm while Perez-Cuenca is charged with child neglect, child abuse and battery.
Garcia was being held on $5,000 bond Friday and Perez-Cuenca was being held on $6,500 bond. It was unknown if they have attorneys.
According to the report, the couple's 3-month-old child was taken to Palmetto Regional Hospital on Wednesday with bruises on his left torso.
The couple told police that the baby had fallen from a sofa while they were changing his diaper, the report said.
But according to the report, the child had a hand print covering the left side of his face, and a doctor classified it as child abuse.

They at first denied abusing the child but later admitted they had lied, the reports said.
According to a separate report, the battery charge against Perez-Cuenca stems from a separate incident in which he allegedly pushed Garcia's head into a car window.
The couple had been living together for about a years and three months but have been separated, the report said.
