Hialeah Man Charged in Disturbing Mutilation of Neighbor's Cat

Police in Hialeah arrested a 20-year-old man they say mutilated a cat early Wednesday morning, leaving it to die tied to a fence.

Eduard Rodriguez-Monteagudo was taken into custody on one count of animal cruelty with intent to kill.

According to the arrest report, Rodriguez-Monteagudo was outside his home on West 51st Place around 3 a.m. Wednesday when a neighbor’s cat came into his yard. After taking the cat into his home to play, he became upset with the animal.

Rodriguez-Monteagudo later admitted to police that he hung the cat on a fence in his yard, tying a rope around his neck and slitting the animal’s stomach and severing a paw.

Bond was set at $5,000 and Rodriguez-Monteagudo bailed out of jail Thursday morning.
