Garcia's son, 36-year-old William Gerardo Garcia, had been living with his mother and has a history of mental illness police said.

Detectives believe William Garcia may have killed his mother on Wednesday and fled the home. Her daughter had been trying to get in touch with her for a day, police said.

William Garcia was found overnight by a Hialeah officer who was heading home to Pembroke Pines, police said.

He was taken to Hialeah Police headquarters for questioning and later charged with second-degree murder, police said. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.

According to an arrest report, Garcia's body was found with multiple signs of trauma and what appeared to be burn marks on her arms.

The report said her bed had been set on fire and there were pieces of burnt clothing scattered throughout the apartment.

After his arrest William Garcia said he was in the apartment when an imaginary person named Cormega stabbed his mother numerous times, attempted to remove her eyes and set the bed on fire, the report said.

William Garcia said he was burned on his arms when he tried to put the fire out, the report said. He also said the victim was not his mother because she was evil, the report said.
