Hialeah Woman Accused of Making Bomb Threats to DMV

Raiza Cueto-Alvarez, 54, was arrested Wednesday on two counts of threatening to throw or place a bomb or destructive device, an arrest report said

A Hialeah woman was arrested after police said she called in multiple bomb threats to a Department of Motor Vehicles office in Opa-locka earlier this month.

Raiza Cueto-Alvarez, 54, was arrested Wednesday on two counts of threatening to throw or place a bomb or destructive device, an arrest report said.

According to the report, the first incident happened the morning of Aug. 7, when Cueto-Alvarez called the DMV office at 12601 Northwest 42nd Avenue and said a bomb was going off in five minutes. The building was evacuated and Miami-Dade Police bomb sniffing K-9s searched but found nothing, the report said.

The person who took the call said the person sounded like the same person who had called in a bomb threat to the office in May, the report said.

The next morning, Aug. 8, Cueto-Alvarez called the same DMV office and made another bomb threat, the report said. The building was evacuated and searched again, but nothing was found.

According to the report, the caller ID in the office showed an anonymous number, but officers were able to determine the calls came from a number registered to Cueto-Alvarez, the report said.

Cueto-Alvarez was arrested and booked into jail, where she was being held on $15,000 bond Thursday, records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
