History of Incidents for Company That Owns Plane Involved in Ft. Lauderdale Crash

As authorities investigate a plane crash that took place Friday in Ft. Lauderdale, NBC 6 has learned that the company that owns the plane has a history of reported incidents.

The plane that crashed is owned by Aerial Banners, Inc. It’s a large company with locations across the country but based in South Florida.

So far, the company’s owners have not released a statement. But NBC 6 Investigators have linked the company to other crashes and emergency landings.

No one answered the door at Aerial Banner, Inc. when NBC 6 crews passed by their offices.

NBC 6 Investigators learned about four other incidents in South Florida in the last five years.

According to the FAA, a plane lost power in 2017. The pilot decided to make a water landing.

In 2015, a pilot was left stranded and waving for help while on top of a downed plane. In 2014, a pilot was forced to land in a lake after the pilot reported having plane problems.

Also in 2014, a plane decorated with army logos had to make an emergency landing in the ocean off of Miami Beach. The pilot was rescued by people on the beach.

FAA officials told NBC 6 the plane involved in Friday’s crash took off from North Perry Airport.

Both the NTSB and FAA are investigating Friday’s incident.

NBC 6 spoke with someone from Aerial Banners, Inc. by phone. They said they will release a statement once they finish speaking with officials.
