Suspect Arrested for Allegedly Killing Elderly Man at Everglades Holiday Park: BSO

Detectives have arrested the suspect who allegedly ran over and killed an elderly man following a dispute at Everglades Holiday Park Wednesday.

26-year-old Kyle Christopher Hannover of Fort Lauderdale was taken into custody Thursday and charged with murder.

The victim has been identified 82-year-old Luis Angel Dominguez of Pembroke Pines.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the boat ramp area of the park, which is located at 21940 Griffin Road in unincorporated Broward County.

A witness told NBC 6 that he saw Dominguez and Hannover get into a verbal argument, and claims to have heard Hannover yell a "racial-laced tirade" at Dominguez.

BSO said Hannover threw a rock at the Dominguez' car then intentionally ran him over. Dominguez was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Dominguez was a resident at Holly Lake mobile home community and had lived there for many years. He was a retired construction worker.

"He was a really nice guy. He was very family-oriented and he loved his grandkids. It just sucks that someone had to take his life away like that," said Damaris Riveron, Dominguez relative.

Neighbors said he was well liked and affectionately known as "papi" to many in the area. Dominguez has three children and three grandchildren, as well as a brother and sister.

They said he would visit Everglades Holiday Park simply for leisure and relaxation.

Deputies said Hannover was at the park fishing with an acquaintance, who witnessed the argument but left the park prior to the murder.

BSO said Hannover was arrested in Broward County in April 2015 for aggravated assault and violating injunction.
