Police in Hollywood are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who has been scamming renters out of thousands while posing as a property owner.
The suspect, who used the name James Williams, posed as the owner of a multi-family property at 1919 Mayo Street, Hollywood Police said Wednesday.
The man posted advertisements online through Craigslist, receiving funds from three different victims, police said. But he had no authority to rent the property he listed, and scammed the potential renters out of thousands of dollars, police said.
Police released surveillance images of the suspect, who they believe may have victimized others. Anyone with information is asked to call Hollywood Police at 954-764-4357.
