Hollywood Synagogue Attacked By Vandals

Hollywood Police are investigating after a local synagogue became the latest site to be attacked by vandals.

Rabbi Leol Benhamu of B'nai Sephardim founded the synagogue 24 years ago. He told NBC 6 South Florida that he came to the building early Tuesday and discovered the hateful messages in an area of new construction.

"It's really upsetting to see this horrible thing," he said. "I believe that those people who did it, I hope they didn't think."

Rabbi Benhamu believes the vandalism occurred sometime Monday evening.

Some of the more tame messages include "666" and "be careful," and many of the messages are so graphic they could not be photographed or shown on camera.

"Since 1990, I never saw this. This is the first time that this has happened in our community," he said.

Still, Rabbi Benhamu says he wants the person who did this to come forward. Not for punishment, but rather, so that the rabbi may help that person with their issues, and come to a peaceful resolution.

Everyone is welcome, Rabbi Benhamu told NBC 6.
