Homeowner Shoots at Would-Be Burglar in Hollywood: Police

Police are looking for a man who was caught on camera trying to break into a Hollywood house and was shot at by the homeowner Wednesday morning.

The break-in attempt happened just before 8:30 a.m. at a home in the 4200 block of Polk Street, Hollywood Police said.

Surveillance footage from the home showed the suspect attempting to pry open the front door. When that didn't work, he tried to break into a side door window, police said.

The owner, who was home at the time, fired a shot at the suspect, who fled the scene. It's unknown if the suspect was injured.

Police said the suspect fled on foot but may be in a black car, possibly a Chevy Impala. Anyone with information is asked to call Hollywood Police at 954-967-4411.
