Homestead Police Search for Armed Robbery Suspect

Officials said the suspect may have committed similar robberies in Cutler Bay and Florida City.

Officials are searching for a man suspected of a series of armed robberies in Southwest Miami-Dade.

The suspect committed an armed commercial robbery Monday morning at the Advanced America check cashing store at 320 NE 8th Street, according to Homestead Police.

Surveillance video shows the man whip out a gun and use it to force the clerk to the back of the store. Several minutes later, he walks casually out to the front door. Once he leaves, the clerk frantically follows, paces out, then picks up the phone to call for help.

"Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident and all that, but again, he did produce a firearm, and there's a possibility that it could happen in the future," said Detective Eric Rodriguez with the Homestead Police Department.

The man may also have been involved in two similar robberies that occurred in Cutler Bay and Florida City in the past couple of weeks, officials said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective D. Mata at 305-224-5433 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
