Miami Sunset Senior High Student Charged with Stalking Teacher

An 18-year-old student from Miami Sunset Senior High School was arrested this week and charged with stalking a teacher at the school.

According to the arrest affidavit, Jordan Sotomayor, 18, told police he had a crush on the teacher and requested to be her friend repeatedly on social media. However, the teacher refused the requests, which she said she did of all current and former students.

Wednesday, the teacher said she walked into her classroom and found a message on her whiteboard that was sexually explicit. The teacher said it was the second incident that had happened in the last few days. According to the teacher, she discovered the first sexually explicit message left on her whiteboard on Tuesday.

According to the affidavit, police said closed-circuit cameras captured Sotomayor entering the classroom and then leaving several minutes later on Tuesday. Sotomayor told police he went in the room and left the sexually explicit messages for the teacher and that he had about 15 pictures of her from Facebook.

The affidavit revealed the teacher told police she was in great fear for her safety and Sotomayor offered a written statement for police as well. He was taken to jail for processing on Wednesday.

It's unknown if Sotomayor has an attorney.
