Hurricanes Stay Perfect With Victory Over Mountaineers

The Hurricanes stayed perfect with their 45-10 victory over the Mountaineers on Saturday

The Miami Hurricanes moved to 3-0 on the year with their 45-10 victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Saturday.

This was expected to be a closer battle as the Mountaineers have played good football thus far this year. In addition, this was the first road game of the year for UM. Miami wasted no time with a 21-0 first quarter and never looked back. As part of that dominant quarter, the Hurricanes witnessed another big run from Mark Walton.

Walton's touchdown was his sixth of the season and the fifth in the last two weeks. The sophomore's touchdown run was an 80-yard dash and came quickly. Walton put Miami on the board with just under 12 minutes left in the first quarter. That early score set the tone for the rest of the day.

For the game as a whole, Walton ended up with 130 yards on 16 carries. Walton would add a second TD during the fourth quarter to give him a team-high seven in 2016. Miami saw some action on the ground from its other players as well. Joseph Yearby had a rushing TD of his own and 37 yards on the day.

Brad Kaaya did a good job in leading his team to the win. The quarterback was 20-26 on the day for 362 yards and three touchdowns along with one interception. Kaaya now has seven touchdowns and three interceptions in three games this year.

Miami will take a week off before resuming its schedule on October 1st at Georgia Tech with a game against the Yellow Jackets.
