I-595 Lanes Reopen After Body Blocks Road

A motorcycle accident left one man dead Wednesday and all of the lanes on Interstate 595 at the Florida Turnpike blocked for several hours.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcycle driver, Barry Selph, III, 24, was driving west on the Turnpike and failed to negotiate the curve and hit a concrete wall. Selph was thrown from his bike and over a wall, falling 30 feet into the westbound lanes of I-595.

With Selph on the road, the driver of a Volkswagen Passat and the driver of a tractor-trailer both hit the motorcycle driver. FHP said Selph was pronounced dead at the scene.

I-595 was reopened around four hours after the accident. FHP said the cause of the initial crash was still under investigation.
