ICE Agent Accidentally Shoots Self in Traffic Stop

An ICE agent was taken to the hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the leg as he tried to help a Miami Beach officer conduct a traffic stop, authorities said.

According to Miami Beach Police, a police officer was attempting to stop a car for a traffic violation along Collins and 56 Street Saturday afternoon. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer from the Department of Homeland Security was driving by and stopped to help the police stop the car.

The driver of the car was a Brazilian tourist who did not understand the police lights were a signal that he needed to pull over, police said.

While exiting or entering his car, the agent shot himself in the leg, police said.
