Bahamian Florida Memorial University International Students Uncertain After Hurricane Dorian

A group of Bahamian students in South Florida expressed worry over the future of their education following the devastation from Hurricane Dorian in their homeland.

About 15% of the student body at Florida Memorial University is made up of international students from the Bahamas. Half of that group is from Grand Bahama.

8,000 Sea Turtle Nests Washed Out by Dorian in Florida: Survey

Scientists say Hurricane Dorian washed out to sea more than 8,000 sea turtle nests from a Florida wildlife refuge.

The University of Central Florida said Friday that a recent survey conducted at the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge in Melbourne Beach shows the storm that brushed Florida's east coast earlier this month washed away 45% of green turtle nests.

Video Shows Taxi Driver Shot During Armed Robbery in Davie

A man is facing charges after he was caught on camera shooting a taxi driver during an armed robbery in Davie last month, police said.

Jonathan King, 26, is facing aggravated battery and armed robbery charges in the Aug. 24 shooting that was captured on the Yellow Cab driver's camera, Davie Police said.

Pembroke Pines Girl Wants to Give Clean Water to Those in Need

Instead of the usual cake and balloons for her birthday, an 8-year-old girl from Pembroke Pines wants to raise money for a charity that provides clean water to those in need.

Michelle Moreno said her father found nonprofit Charity: Water after thinking about what she wanted for her ninth birthday.
