‘I'm Back': Phil Collins Making Music Comeback in South Florida

Five-time Grammy winner Phil Collins is warming up his pipes. He announced Friday that he's coming out of retirement.

"I know it is a long time. It doesn't feel like that," Collins said.

Collins, who got his start as a drummer with the band Genesis, said it was his children who convinced him to get back into music.

"I miss it. You know, my kids would love me to do it. They want me to go out and do some shows so they can come see," he said.

He's known for his countless hits including: "In the Air," "You Can't Hurry Love" and "Against All Odds," but more original songs could be on the way.

"There's a possibility of me doing some more. They want me to write some new music, which I've got a little studio now, so I might have a crack at that. It's a bit of a jump. I haven't done it for a long time," Collins said.

In addition to the big announcement, Seminole Hard Rock Casino also donated $10,000 to Collins' Little Dreams Foundation. Their mission is to fulfill the dreams of young aspiring talent who are against all odds and don't have the means to achieve their goals.

Former Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield also showed up to support the foundation. Next week, Collins will be singing a concert at their gala.

"Which will be the first time I've played in Miami for 10 years and the first time I've really sung and played anywhere since 2007," Collins said.

He hopes his first show out of retirement will have fans coming back for more.

"I think maybe they don't quite believe it, I don't know, because I've been away such a long time, but I'm back," Collins said.

You can check out Collins performing at the Little Dreams Foundation Gala on March 11 at the Fillmore Theater on Miami Beach.
