Increased Police Presence in Downtown Miami For Pitbull's New Year's Eve Event

In anticipation of rapper Pitbull's New Years Eve celebration in Bayfront Park, the Miami Police Department is announcing an increased police presence to ensure safety.

Pitbull's party kicks off at 8 p.m. on Sunday and is scheduled to last until 12:30 a.m. on Monday – New Year's Day.

Police anticipate thousands of people will pack into downtown Miami for the event located at 301 N. Biscayne Boulevard.

There will be two Pitbull-related events in the area, including Pitbull's New Year's Revolution at Bayfront Park, which is free of charge, and Pitbull's Worldwide New Year's Eve VIP Food & Wine Party, tickets to which start at $295.

β€œThere is going to be a heavy police presence inside and outside the event," Miami Police Department spokesperson Kenia Fallat said.

Fallat urges the public not to bring coolers or fireworks. A public fireworks show will also occur.

Mr. 305 will take the stage at 11:30 p.m. and then the iconic "Big Orange Ball" attached to the nearby Intercontinental Hotel will rise at midnight.

The food and wine party is scheduled to last until 1 a.m.

The heightened security in Miami follows high-profile attacks in public spaces, such as the Las Vegas music festival shooting in October.
