In anticipation of rapper Pitbull's New Years Eve celebration in Bayfront Park, the Miami Police Department is announcing an increased police presence to ensure safety.
Pitbull's party kicks off at 8 p.m. on Sunday and is scheduled to last until 12:30 a.m. on Monday β New Year's Day.
Police anticipate thousands of people will pack into downtown Miami for the event located at 301 N. Biscayne Boulevard.
There will be two Pitbull-related events in the area, including Pitbull's New Year's Revolution at Bayfront Park, which is free of charge, and Pitbull's Worldwide New Year's Eve VIP Food & Wine Party, tickets to which start at $295.
βThere is going to be a heavy police presence inside and outside the event," Miami Police Department spokesperson Kenia Fallat said.
Fallat urges the public not to bring coolers or fireworks. A public fireworks show will also occur.
Mr. 305 will take the stage at 11:30 p.m. and then the iconic "Big Orange Ball" attached to the nearby Intercontinental Hotel will rise at midnight.
