A police officer shot a man they believed was armed during a confrontation Thursday morning in a Miami neighborhood.
The shooting took place at around 8:20 a.m. near the intersection of Southwest 28th Street and 38th Avenue. Officers responded to the area after reports of a truck hitting a pole and shots being fired.
At the scene, Miami police say a man confronted the officers. They believed he was armed and an officer shot at the man, striking him, the department said.
Police couldn't say whether the man fired a gun at officers. Miami Fire Rescue transported that man to Ryder Trauma Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
No additional details have been released at this time. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation.
