Officials searched a Miami canal after receiving reports of a submerged car early Monday morning, but rescuers did not find any occupants.
Miami Police divers found an empty vehicle in the water by the westbound lanes of State Road 826 between Northwest 27th and 37th Avenues. Miami Fire Rescue continued the search, but were unable to find a driver.
It remains unclear how the vehicle ended up in the water.
