A Jacksonville man has been convicted in the death of a 2-year-old child he was watching.
A Duval County jury found 22-year-old Devonte Rashad Baker guilty Thursday of second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
Authorities say Baker had been watching Brooklyn Sue Sanchez at his home in 2012, and the mother found the girl unresponsive when she returned. The little girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from a severe head injury.
Baker told detectives he shoved the girl to the ground because she wouldn't stop crying after hurting herself in the shower.
The Florida Times-Union reports that Baker faces a possible life sentence at a March 23rd hearing.
