Jaxson's Ice Cream Gets New Freezer Truck Almost Seven Months After Theft

Miss Jaxson II replaced Miss Jaxson, a freezer truck stolen in May.

Almost seven months after an ice cream truck was stolen from a Dania Beach parlor, a new and improved replacement truck has taken its place.

The Miss Jaxson II was christened Monday at Jaxson's Ice Cream, located at 128 South Federal Highway.

On their second attempt, general manager Jerry Smith and founder and owner Monroe Udell broke a bottle of cream on the front of the truck to welcome it to the family.

Miss Jaxson II replaced Miss Jaxson, a freezer truck stolen in May and never found. The new truck will serve as a backup freezer in the case that the store loses power. Miss Jaxson II will also be used at charity events.

β€œThis truck is a little more, let’s say protected, so we hope to hold on to the Miss Jaxson II for a little bit longer,” Smith said.

Jaxson Ice Cream was founded in 1956.
