Jockeys Hurt, Horse Euthanized in Racetrack Accident

Two jockeys were injured and a fallen horse had to be euthanized after an accident during a race at Gulfstream Park in South Florida.

Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue officials said jockeys Rafael Hernandez and Joel Rosario were hospitalized for observation after three horses collided during the 11th race Saturday.

Several media reports said More Royalty was in front as the field went into the home stretch. Brandy's Girl bumped More Royalty and fell, tossing jockey Hernandez. Kandoo could not avoid Brandy's Girl and also fell, throwing Rosario.

Fire rescue officials said the two jockeys did not appear seriously injured.

Gulfstream officials say Kandoo had to be euthanized.
