Lawyers For Florida Woman Accused of Hiring Hit Man Ask For Change of Venue

The lawyer for Dalia Dippolito, the Boynton Beach woman accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill her husband, want her latest trial moved out of Palm Beach County - or have jurors brought in from somewhere else.

Brian Claypool contends that his client can not get a fair trial in the area, while also citing an incident Thursday where a media door was open during questioning - allowing audio to be heard by jurors.

Claypool is expected to file the motion on Monday, the first scheduled day of teh trial. He asked the judge to stop jury selection Friday, but that request was denied.

Jury selection moved slowly Thursday, with about 70 of the initial group of 100 potential jurors told Judge Glenn Kelley on Thursday they either knew something about the case or had a hardship.

Another 100 potential jurors were expected to be screened Friday and final selections made Monday.

Dippolito was arrested in 2009, her case featured on the TV show "Cops." A 2011 conviction was thrown out on appeal.

Prosecutors allege Dippolito offered an undercover police officer $7,000 to kill her then-husband. She says she was just acting and didn't really want her husband dead.

If convicted of solicitation to commit first-degree murder, she could be sentenced up to 20 years.
