Kaaya Throws 4 TD Passes in Win Over Arkansas State

Brad Kaaya had a big day on Saturday with 4 touchdowns and 342 yards in the air

The Miami Hurricanes improved to 2-1 on the year with their decisive 41-20 win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Saturday.

It was a game that the Hurricanes were expected to win easily going in and they did not disappoint with the final result. It was the second straight home game at Sun Life Stadium for Miami and the team remained perfect at home.

Brad Kaaya filled the stat sheet with a big game in this one as the quarterback threw four touchdown passes as part of a 342-yard passing day. Kaaya was also efficient as he did that while going 16-24 on his attempts. The freshman QB did throw one interception and now has 7 TDs on the year to go along with 5 INTs.

Kaaya's 342 yards were the most yards thrown by a true freshman in the history of the school.

Four of those completed attempts were caught by Phillip Dorsett who made the most of his catches with two touchdowns. Dorsett also had a total of 201 receiving yards despite only catching four passes. The longest of those went for 63 yards while the senior averaged an exceptional 50.3 yards on the day receiving.

The running game did their job as well for the most part as Duke Johnson had 90 yards on the day on 14 carries. Overall, the running game combined for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Johnson took one into the end zone while the other TD came courtesy of Gus Edwards.

Next Saturday, the Hurricanes will travel to Nebraska for a game against the Cornhuskers. The last time the two schools took on one another was way back in 2002. In that one, the Hurricanes walked off with the National Championship at the Rose Bowl.
