Keys Host Annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest

Dozens of artists from across the country were thrown in at the deep end when they took part in the annual underwater pumpkin carving contest in Key Largo on Saturday.

Divers of all ages used knives and carving tools to transform the orange gourds into sea creatures. The divers were also tasked with keeping the pumpkins hollow enough to stay submerged 30-feet under the ocean's surface.

The winners, Detroit's own Josephine Walker and Stephanie McClary, carved two moray eels encircling a heart.
