Lauderhill Toddler Hospitalized In Critical Condition After Near Drowning In Pool

A 1-year-old toddler is fighting for his life after nearly drowning inside a Lauderhill pool Thursday.

Crews arrived to the scene near Northwest 55th Terrace and 25th Street shortly before 1 p.m. after getting a call of a child found floating in a pool. They found the baby unresponsive when they arrived and rushed him to Plantation Hospital in critical condition.

When rescue workers arrived the child had been taken out of the pool and was being given CPR, officials said.

"When we got here we found some family members had already removed the child from the pool and were in the process of conducting CPR on their own," Lauderhill Police Lt. Greg Solowsky said.

Officials have not given any information on how the toddler got into the pool. The incident remains under investigation.
