Police and public works employees rescued a lawn care worker who was trapped after his riding mower slid into a southwest Florida canal.
The man was cutting grass in Cape Coral on Monday morning when his mower toppled into a canal. His name wasn't released, but police say he is part of an independent husband-wife lawn care service.
Fire rescue officials told the News-Press of Fort Myers they're not sure if the man slipped into the water because of wet conditions or because of a medical emergency. He was not breathing when he was taken to the hospital. His condition wasn't available on Tuesday morning.
